HIGHLIGHTS
Even in winter, the San Juan Skyway is kept open as much as possible. Along the Colorado 145 section, the highest elevation is reached at Lizard Head Pass, at 10,222 feet.
Still, even when conditions are not perfect, the scenery can seem
surreal. And when the day is sunny, the scenery is often remarkable, with winter
enthusiasts out enjoying the day.
DIRECTIONS
From Ridgway take Colorado 62 west 22 miles to Colorado 145. Turn left, south and drive the San Juan Skyway.
ELEVATION
10,222 feet (Lizard Head Pass).
